A Green Grocer

We aim to sustain, locally and beyond.

Pete’s Fine Foods is dedicated to playing a responsible role in the community and operating as an environmentally sustainable organization.

Our Green Committee is consistently working towards new goals, new ideas and fresh solutions. Pete’s Fine Foods provides every team member the opportunity to work toward environmental and social change, and expects each team member to find ways to minimize the effects of our business operation on the environment including making fewer photocopies, recycling virtually all re-usable business related materials and packaging and working with suppliers to encourage sound environmental business practices.

Green Grocer

That’s no bull.

bullfrog energy

100% of our fleet is bullfrogpowered with green fuel, enabling us to reduce our carbon emissions footprint by 65 tonnes each year!

Bullfrog ensures that renewable fuel is injected into the Canadian fuel system to match the amount of conventional fuel our fleet uses, displacing conventional fossil fuel litre-for-litre. Bullfrog sources its green fuel from waste streams from food and feed manufacturing, and used cooking oils from restaurants and kitchen facilities. By choosing green fuel, we are reducing our emissions, helping green the Canadian fuel system and leading the way to a renewably powered future.

Thousands of Canadian homes and organizations are doing their part to address climate change by switching to green energy with Bullfrog Power. We are thrilled to now be a part of this community, helping to bring about meaningful change for Canadians.

Visit the Bullfrog Power website at www.bullfrogpower.com for more information on how your home or business can be bullfrogpowered® with green electricity.

Local Love

We partner with 200+ maritime based farmers and producers to bring you the best of our beautiful province.

Businesses are built from communities.

That’s why Pete’s Fine Foods believes in giving back. Our primary focus of contribution is geared towards health and wellness (the building blocks of a strong individual) and youth (the building blocks of our society). Our stores actively donate to the local food banks and fundraising initiatives, including Feed Nova Scotia. In 2016, 12,926kg of food was donated to the not-for-profit. Our team members regularly volunteer their time to an assortment of local non-profits, and we make it easier for our employees to give back to the causes they care about by offering paid “volunteer hours”.

The RePete Bag Program

In 2016, Pete’s Fine Foods introduced the RePete Bag Program, partnering with Clean Nova Scotia. Keeping true to our old-world market style, we’re encouraging customers to bring their own shopping bags. In doing so, 480,000 plastic bags are eliminated annually. No bag, no problem! We have a collection of stylish reusable bags or paper grocery bags available for purchase.

All Taste, No Waste

More than 200 recipes, including gluten free options, are crafted in-house using less than perfect produce to reduce unnecessary waste. They are designed for healthy, delicious meals, without the hassle.

Our softer ecological footprint allows our customers to tread more lightly too!
