Pete’s is proud to announce that Dianne Hamilton, COO, has been recognized by Canadian Grocermagazine as one of this year’s ‘Star Women in Grocery’ in an award ceremony on October 20, 2015. The award is intended to acknowledge women who display innovation and leadership in the Canadian grocery industry.
Hamilton has been with the organization for over 23 years. As Chief Operating Officer she has developed a unique leadership style, involving a team-oriented working environment, individualized reviews and focus groups, and implementing frontline staff suggestions. This includes regular meetings with employee groups at all levels of the company to seek feedback.
“I really believe you will get the best out of people by respecting them, and treating them with kindness and support,” says Hamilton. “In a highly competitive workforce, that about-face has enabled us to hire cream-of-the-crop folks into our organization.”
Pete Luckett emphasizes the need for creative leadership in today’s business model.
“We’re seeing a new generation of workforce, coming from a more collaborative society. Breaking down the old barriers, removing the traditional barriers, it really opens up a door for fresh ideas that help the business on so many levels. Dianne has been a real asset to the company when it comes to identifying and acting on those opportunities.’
Hamilton was recently responsible for making over a coffee-shop area into Pete’s Gluten Free Eatery, the city’s only eatery that’s completely gluten-free.
“This year’s winners are filled with creativity and determination,” says Canadian Grocer managing editor, Alicia Androich. “They work in various parts of the industry, from tech to the store floor, but they all bring ingenuity to their role. We’re thrilled to celebrate these winners.”
