Taste Explosion Smash Burger
Smash burgers are all the rage, and there’s a reason for it! Crispy, brown edges, a juicy interior and no need to own a BBQ. Pete’s Taste Explosion Burgers, loaded with bacon, jalapeños and cheddar, bring these burgers to a whole other level!
- 2 Pete’s Taste Explosion Burgers
- 2 Hamburger Buns
- 4 slices cheddar cheese
- Shredded lettuce
- Sliced tomatoes
- Sliced red onion
- Ketchup ( we recommend Royal Selection San Marzano Tomato Gourmet Ketchup)
Divide each burger in half. Form in to balls. Heat a cast iron skillet over medium high heat. Brush lightly with oil. Add burgers to pan and using the bottom of a cup or a spatula, that’s lightly greased, smash burgers in to thin patties. Uneven and jagged edges are what you want!
Season well with salt. Allow to cook 3-4 minutes, without moving, until deep brown and crispy along edges. Flip, season and allow to cook 2-3 more minutes. Lay a cheese slice on each patty. Add a splash of water to pan. Cover and cook 1-2 minutes longer, until cheese is thoroughly melted and burgers are cooked through.
Layer burger, starting with bottom bun, then desired amount of mayonnaise, then a patty, another patty, tomato, onion, lettuce, ketchup and top with bun. Enjoy!
