Toffee Rum Sauce
The perfect hostess gift, or accompaniment to all your holiday desserts.
- 1/2 cup brown sugar, packed
- 1/4 cup butter
- 1/4 cup whipping cream
- 1/4 cup rum
- splash of vanilla
- pinch of salt
In a medium saucepan, over medium heat, melt butter and brown sugar, stirring to combine. Reduce heat to low, add cream and rum and allow to simmer 5-7 minutes, watching closely and stirring often, until rum has cooled off. Remove from heat and stir in vanilla and salt. Allow to cool completely. Keeps for 2-3 weeks, refrigerated.
Note: this recipe can be easily multiplied to create large quantities of sauce, this recipe yields approx. 1 cup of sauce.
